Creative Uses for Business Cards
We frequently encourage our customers to hand out business cards like penny candy. In actuality, business cards from teaPrint are actually cheaper than most candy sold by the piece. Never leave the house without business cards, because you never know who you’ll meet. You would hate to strike up a conversation about new business and get caught without your professionally printed card! There are other ways to use business cards, especially full-colour, full-bleed glossy printed cards.

Beyond Business with Business Cards
In the end, everything is about business, somehow. Here’s how to use business in creative ways to get your business message out in an artful way. These ideas help your cards do double duty.

  • Display cards for your handmade jewelry, hair accessories, pins or other small objects.
  • To gather information.  Print a short survey on the back of your business card and give people an incentive to return your business card to you with the survey completed.  Be sure to give them a new card when they come back to you.
  • As a referral tool. Print a form on the back of the card for referrals and referees to fill out their information, and give back to you for an incentive.

Business Card Etiquette
One area in which you don’t want to be too creative is with business card etiquette. Because you make your first impression with your business card, the way you present it can make a difference in whether you get the job or not. Here are some business card etiquette tips:

  • If you travel abroad frequently, print your contact details on the back of the card in the language of the host country.  teaPrint cards can print on both sides for you, affordably.
  • Whenever someone hands you their business card, don’t just put it in your pocket.  Look at the card, make sure all of their contact information is on it, and ask a relevant question.
  • If someone gives you their card, ask them if they would like one of your cards.
  • Always carry enough business cards so that you can give out as many as people ask for

Elements of Successful Business Card Design
Your business card can be one of your best marketing tools, or your worst. Your card helps you put your best foot forward, but only if it is well-designed. On one small piece of card stock, many elements come together to present your public face. When you hand out your business card, you're making a first impression. You only get one chance to make a first impression. To make sure that your first impression is everything you hope that it will be (i.e.: helps you sell your product or business), consider the following design elements that work together to compose a business card.

Style
The style of the card is what will guide decisions about each of the other elements. The style of a business card should be determined by the style of the business itself. Are you approachable and friendly, or more reserved? Do you consider your style to be classic or modern? How are your offices decorated? (That only matters if you see clients in your offices.)

Font
The overall style of the card will guide your font selection. A clean, modern style of business card requires a sans-serif font that is not cluttered.
